The world premiere of the John Cooper Works cabriolet is the centerpiece of the MINI exhibition stand at the Geneva Motor Show. Based on the overall claim “Always Open”, the new cabriolet is staged in an “Ice Storm”. Even the building seems effected by the storm: the façade has shifted forward and backward within the typical MINI grid. The presentation of the European premier of the MINI cabriolet is staged as an “Ice Hotel”. The ice walls with integrated seating and the MINI Ice Bar and DJ contribute to the contextualization and “chill out” atmosphere of the lounge.

Scenography is not confined to
the stage or screen, nor just to presen-tation events and trade shows. It is a design approach, rooted in narrative, that can be applied as well to individual buildings and even to urban environments.
