Together with Serie Architects Franken Architekten as Lead Designer was assigned by BMW to built the BMW Group London 2012 Showcase Pavilion at the Olympic Park. BMW Group was the official Automotive Partner to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. It was a new temporary car showroom and exhibition venue for the duration of the 2012 Olympics. It was build of a steel structure with high recycled content on an elevated site above the Waterworks River. The innovative design used river water to provide a sustainable source of cooling for the building before returning this filtered water to the river via an eye-catching ‘water curtain’ feature. The top floor housed seven pods, which were used to highlight BMW’s latest vehicle innovations, additionally the two corner pavilions showed the new BMW iCars. The pods are layed out like stepstones in a waterpond topped with curvilinear shaped elegant roofs. The lower floor will house a range of interactive visitor exhibits, articulating BMW’s vision for sustainable mobility and support for Team GB athletes

Narrative Spaces

Scenography is not confined to
the stage or screen, nor just to presen-tation events and trade shows. It is a design approach, rooted in narrative, that can be applied as well to individual buildings and even to urban environments.
